Legal Department Services

The Legal Department assists survivors of domestic violence in preparing temporary retraining orders. Legal Advocates provide moral support to the client throughout the family court process, including court hearings, mediation orientation, and mediation. Transportation is provided, if needed, to all court related appointments. All legal paperwork pertaining to the temporary order, including Reissuances and Orders After Hearings, are prepared by the Legal Advocate. The Legal Advocates also prepare CLETS (California Law Enforcement Tracking System) orders and takes them to the proper law enforcement agency to be entered into the system. Legal Advocates type up Personal Services Orders to be served by process servers, Marshals in Merced and other Counties, probation officers, correctional facilities in Merced County and elsewhere. Legal Advocates collaborate with other departments in the Agency to provide more comprehensive services to victims. Restraining orders are done on an individual bases by appointment.
